Community Publishing Policy

The Daily Colonial hopes to serve as a voice for each and every member of the university community. We do this by advocating through investigative reporting and staff editorials. We also provide a place for actual community members to voice concerns through our Letters to the Editor and guest columns.

Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor are published on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Opinion section. Any member of the university or Foggy Bottom community is free to write a letter, including students, alumni, staff, faculty, administration, parents and Foggy Bottom residents. Letters will be edited for grammar and spelling only. Content will not be changed under any circumstances. Letters must be received two days before they are published. The publication reserves the right to reject letters that are obscene and lacking in any intellectual value, as well as letters that are simply ad hominim attacks. All letters should be directed to daily@gwu.edu.

Guest Columns

Any member of the immediate university community is free to write a guest column. This includes students, staff, administration, faculty and alumni. Guest columns will be published as space permits in the Opinion section. The more timely the column, the higher its publication priority. The Opinion Editor will work with the author of a guest column on content, style, grammar and spelling to shape it into a publication-worthy column. To start the process of writing a guest column, contact opinion editor Brittany Lannert.
